Weekly Report 3/1-3/5

Ours was good, very good in fact! My DD got to help pass out fliers for a Church ladies meeting yesterday. My 7yo. had to have one of his teeth removed (helped out) on Wed. because his permanent tooth was coming in behind it. Today the older boys are going paintballing with the homeschool group, if they get their minimum required work done, lol. We got alot done despite having those minor interruptions. DS continues to do well with ALEKS and TT, he made an 80 on his last test, i'm so happy and proud. I just want to say that this child has improved all around, his math, reading, listening and his writing, his handwriting needs a little work, but everything can's be perfect. DD is still doing a great job with the Church band. Her overall attitude has improved, not that it was bad, because it wasn't, I just see "more" joy if that makes any sense. She found a copy of the Elsie Dinsmore character book at Goodwill and bought it and has been reading a trait a day, I think it's working. 13yo. has started Elementary Greek 1, I think i'm going to have him do 2 lessons a day until he gets stuck and then we'll slow down. I really like EG and feel that we're going to learn alot. He only has one practice left before he's finished with Singapore 6B, whew!!! I can't wait for him to be done with this book, I need a break from Singapore myself, but I won't be getting one because my youngest will be starting 1A soon, lol. Can I just say that the recorder is the greatest instrument ever invented (well, for a mom with no talent). I bought the 7yo a recorder, he love it!!! I bought one for the 2yo. because he has to do what big bro does (he got a cheap $2 at RR), then I bought myself one because I figured that it would be easier to have my own for teaching purposes. Now, my 13yo wants one as well, he's been helping teach the 7yo.. It's been so wonderful, we can play Mary Had A Little Lamb! Next week we're going to start on Aura Lee, it's going to be a toughie! Reading is going well with the 7yo and so is his writing. I'm just so pleased with our progress thus far. I do think i'm going to get another workbook for EG for the 7yo. to work through slowly, we've only been doing the Greek Alphabet with him so far. I went through our lessons and it looks like we're going to finish in time, well in our time anyway. I'm almost done with getting my stuff for next year and I managed to buy everything used. I think I saved a pretty good chunk of change. I just sent paypal for TT Geometry, now the only thing I "need" to get is the Mentor book of British poets that goes with LLATL gold British lit. for my 9th grader. Now, all I have on my list is "wants" and i'm going to try and sell some stuff that we aren't using to fund those purchases. I did go ahead a buy one of my wants, Thinking Like A Christian, i'm going to add Sophie's World to it and do a worldview/philosophy course for credit. I can't wait to start planning, i'm already working out my terms and such on paper. I do need to start looking into some college classes for my dd. I'm hoping that she can take a few classes online even. Technically, this is her last year, but she wants to wait for her day to get home before having her official graduation. Not to mention the fact that she loves working with us and wants to continue for one more year. I wanted to post how much we're loving my netbook too. This week we were able to listen to our composer at the kitchen table while doing math, it was nice! Did I mention that this is our 96th day of school? Can you guys hear the excitement in my post? Well, that's because I feel like we're really on track this year and because my DH is getting come home for 4 days next month before he leaves for Iraq!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ok, I will end this post before I make someone ill with all this gushing. I hope everyone has a great weekend and I look forward to hearing about your week

Weekly Report 2/15-2/19

We only did 2 days of school Wed. and today and we're still doing just the basics until next week. Let's see what we accomplished:
Finished the Cat of Bubastes, they liked it, but didn't love it, felt that the characters were too British.

everyone did math, latin/greek
Did two lessons in OPGTR

We did not practice the recorder this week and i'm not sure how I feel about that, i'm waiting on a RR oder with our next Greek book and math.

This week has been sort of bittersweet, we said good bye to DH/Daddy yesterday at 4am, came home and slept the day away. I do plan for us to relax this weekend and start next week with a full schedule. I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!!!!!

My First Post

hello, this is my first post. I would ask that you please bear with me as I get the hang of posting. I was inspired to make this blog by another homeschool mom that I admire. I will post the weekly happenings of our school here.
